1. Explain briefly about Illuminated Manuscripts and Monasteries
and their influence.
2. Students will then make sketches and works of “illumination” as
if they were decorating in sacred books they would want to pass on to future
generations.

Students will need to be able to explain what insular
art, migration art, Carolingian art, Ottonion art and how
they manifest into the Romanesque historical period.

Why would Illuminated Manuscripts by Monastics have so much influence
into Romanesque Art?
How have you seen particular schools of thought, religious
ideals or philosophies during this historical period influence art today?
